WELCOME
By capitalising on its oil and gas (hydrocarbon) wealth, the UAE has been able to access natural resources that it does not possess from outside its borders. This has helped the country to develop economically and improve the lifestyles of the resident population. However, this development has also had consequences such as large and rapidly rising demand for energy. This growing demand for natural resources needs to be addressed by choosing development pathways that use resources more efficiently and that place a lower pressure on the planet.

This is an exciting time for AGEDI are in the midst of implementing Phase II of the initiative. We continue our commitment to better access to data for all on the local, national and regional levels by planning new poducts and updating our already existing products over the next five years. We have additionally expanded our scope to support the Al Basama Al Beeiya Initiative (Ecological Footprint Research Project) for the UAE as well as the Environmental Perfomance Index (EPI) for Abu Dhabi project.
