WELCOME
Building on the success of Abu Dhabi Global Environmental Data Initiative (AGEDI) which was launched by the United Arab Emirates, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) at the WSSD in Johannesburg in 2002, the Government of Abu Dhabi has made a call now for an ‘Eye on Earth’ Global Summit to be held in Abu Dhabi in November 2010.
This is an exciting time for AGEDI are in the midst of implementing Phase II of the initiative. We continue our commitment to better access to data for all on the local, national and regional levels by planning new poducts and updating our already existing products over the next five years. We have additionally expanded our scope to support the Al Basama Al Beeiya Initiative (Ecological Footprint Research Project) for the UAE as well as the Environmental Perfomance Index (EPI) for Abu Dhabi project.

Towards a sustainable environment for a sustainable future
One of the primary objectives of AGEDI is promoting and facilitating access to quality environmental data. The AGEDI Geoportal is a step forward in achieving this objective, by providing integrated spatial information services on the internet.
